Philip Ling creates objects using stone and wood. Yuk Lin Man creates in stone and clay. Their works are inspired by the natural environment and have a tactile quality to them that invites you to come closer, to look and see, and evokes the urge to touch.
They share a strong tactile curiosity. Besides exploring objects through vision, they feel the urge to touch, feel the lines, the texture, fabric, temperature and weight.
They try to embed their curiosity in their work. They sculpt to touch and touch to sculpt. Wood, stone and ceramics are strong and hard materials to work with, but at the same time they can have a soft touch and can be fragile. Their works are sometimes organic, but always tactile and triggers curiosity.
