Mat Cahill

At the core of Mat Cahill’s practice is drawing—a means of visualising thought processes and exploring complex themes. His distinctive illustrative style has evolved through years of reflection on subjects such as community, migration, society, and, more recently, grief.
Born in the North of England in 1984, Cahill now lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied at Loughborough University before completing a Master’s degree in Drawing at the University of the Arts London. During his studies, he began exhibiting widely across the UK, and by 2008 he was working as a studio assistant to Damien Hirst.
Over the past fifteen years, Cahill’s signature style has gained international recognition, leading to exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Lowry. His works are held in numerous private collections around the globe.
