Treehouse NDSM - studio 55N6
Gabriele Bonomi, also known as Vegan Bear Chef, develops a practice that intertwines art, identity, and sustainability. In his Vegan Bear Lab, he transforms discarded materials into poetic objects and installations: handmade paper from food scraps, jewelry shaped from coffee clay, and Kawaii portraits on self-produced supports.
His recent works include "The Breath of Nature" (2024) for Art Park II: Voice of Nature and "The Many Layers of Identity" (2025) at Treehouse, which reimagined a Venetian carnival figure as a queer symbol. He also created a visual and light installation with artist Guido Hoek and curated "Out in the Open" for Pride Art Route 2025, where he presented a triptych of vintage collages on eco-printed paper alongside the piece "I See You".
For SAILS 2025 at NDSM Loads, he presents "Land Ho! – Waves of Change", an installation evoking the sea, the journey, and transformation as metaphors for identity and collective change.
During NDSM Open, he invites visitors into his studio to explore this ongoing journey of experimentation with sustainable materials, visual narratives, and shared processes.
