Photo Exhibition ‘Tokyo Unseen’

Benny van der Plank | Photography

DAM Gallery, studio NDSM-plein 67, Kunststad ground floor, NDSM LOODS

Benny van der Plank has always been a great admirer of Japanese photography, particularly the work of Masahisa Fukase, Daido Moriyama, and Shomei Tomatsu. It wasn't until the winter of 2023 that he finally traveled to Tokyo for the first time to experience the inspiration his heroes drew from the daily life of the metropolis. He stayed in the Kabukichō district of Shinjuku, also known as Tokyo's red-light district, with its hundreds of small bars nestled in the alleyways of Golden Gai.

During NDSM OPEN, he will be showing for the first time new work created during his trips to Tokyo. Visit the pop-up exhibition 'Tokyo Unseen' at the DAM Gallery, where his studio is located.
